Introduction to Midwifery & Doula Certification                                                                                                                       Save with early registration which begins August 22nd, 2008.  Early Kama 'aina Registrants are also eligible for a partial scholarship of $200.!  Early registrants also will receive a packet that includes the current required reading and written assignments & clinical requirements.  This allows for students to begin their studies and start completing certification requirements before classes begin.  Certification also requires a total of eight, 8-hour workshops from January 15th, 2009 thru April 25th, 2009.  The classroom dates are tentatively scheduled for:                 January 15th & 29th, February 5th & 19th, March 5th & 26th, April 4th & 25th, 2009.

Emergency Preparedness Team Development                                                                                                 BFDA helps to coordinate meetings and drills in North Kohala designed to organize and prepare community members who are willing to volunteer during future emergencies.  Roles include yet are not limited to:  medical aid of all types, ham radio operators, grant-writers, bloggers, community organizers, community liaison, road-clearing crews, chainsaw operators, builders, electricians, clean water experts, farmers, cooks, land-owners, sign-makers, body-workers, doulas, social-workers, peace-keepers, entertainers, clergy, police, fire, and emergency ambulance crews, Civil Defense, CERT, ARC, news media, state and county agencies and helping hands with calm spirits.        Call 808-987-7008 to volunteer.

Barefoot Doctor Training & Certification                                                                                                           Awarded to students who’ve taken all of the Barefoot Doctors’ Academy’s programs and/or fulfilled BFDA’s ‘Degrees of Honor’, going from student and apprentice phases to practitioner, educator and mastery in their chosen field of healing or midwifery.                                           On-going.

CPR Certification                                                                                                                                        Adult, Pediatric and Infant Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation will be offered in collaboration with the American Heart Association.                      Fall 2008 date TBA.
