World Midwifery Museum

About the Project:

The World Midwifery Museum (WMM) project is part of a larger initiative to create an interactive database on fertility, childbirth, midwifery and infancy history, and to find a home (hopefully on the Big Island of Hawaii) for various donated archival and artifactual materials. We already have over 1000 art pieces which would fill a birth museum space quite wonderfully!

We are planning a major national exhibit at the MANA (Midwives Alliance of North America) conference in 2010, accompanied by a book, one chapter of which will be devoted to the history of midwifery and the remainder will examine various aspects of natural remedies used in midwifery.

We invite your comments and additions to the project.  Thanks very much to all those who have so far contributed to our project. We welcome additional ideas, artifacts, photos and stories.

If you know of a possible museum site on the Big Island of Hawaii,  funding possibilities, to make tax-deductable donations, or for more information, please contact: Dee Anne Domnick (808)889-1922.
